Beginning Middle End

In the movie Gladiator, the ending consists of Maximus dying at the hands of the corrupt emperor.  The ending is amazing because Maximus was able to defeat the emperor that could have been the downfall of Rome in his final battle for his life. It is a bittersweet moment because Maximus is reunited with his family in the afterlife which was his ultimate wish after his family was murdered through the order of the emperor.

I feel that I am concluding one of the easiest chapters of my life. High school was easy, especially in comparison to the other schools in our nation. Trying to get into college, paying college fees, separating from my family, succeeding in the advanced classes I will begin to take, and facing the racism I know will be directed towards me will be very difficult. It is an ending to the easiest chapter of my life but I am ready to take it on because a new beginning is coming and I need to prepare myself for it. Wish me luck.

Superior Position

In the movie Gladiator, Maximus and the emperors sister plan the escape of many infamous gladiators, property of the emperor. Maximus and his general continue with their plans to escape and ultimately fight against the emperor until he is slain. However, what Maximus and the general do not know is that while they are going as is according to their plans, the emperors sister, being threatened, tells the emperor of Maximus's plans to storm the prisons and to take over Rome.

An idea for superior position in my film could be the main character being prepared to shoot their victims with a ray gun that will turn them into the food that they eat, while the victims continue with their daily activities because they are clueless as to the main characters plans. Another idea for superior position in an action film could be a bad guy planting a bomb in a building upon which law enforcement, or people trying to stop that person will enter. When the opposing party enters, they will be clueless as to the actions of the bad guy an will in turn be blown up.

Undeserved Misfortune

An example of undeserved misfortune from a movie can be found in the movie Titanic, more than half of the passengers drown in the Atlantic ocean on the Titanic's first voyage across the ocean.  The movies point of view focuses in Jack and Rose two young lovers who are both victims of undeserved misfortune even before the ship begins to sink. Rose suffers under an extremely controlling mother and a fiancee who although wealthy, also represents clout to Roses' free will. Jack is a poor boy who grew up without parents and finds himself the bad luck to be on the ship through a card game. Before that however, he sleeps beneath bridges and works extremely hard for food, trying to make a living. By stepping onto the ship, his fate is sealed and receives his final dose of bad luck and heartbreak.

An example of undeserved misfortune are the 911 attacks on the twin towers. Hundreds of people died, including those who were trying to help those who were at the places that were attacked. It is very sad and unfair for people to be attacked through terrorism. The people who boarded the planes were also extremely unlucky and completely unaffiliated to the terrorists who attacked the Pentagon, Towers, and attacked the mailing system.

My idea for undeserved misfortune for a film takes place in the early 1900's. A young African American man works extremely hard his entire life to make a living and survive the social difficulties of his time. When he begins to make a living through his newly established business. However, the business is quickly burned to the ground and the man is taken to jail through false accusations simply because he is of color. The purpose of the film is to highlight  the difficulties and unfairness directed towards people of color throughout Americas history.
