Week of March 27th, 2015

This week we got a lot of things done. We started our storyboards at the same time we started to type out our screenplay so I believe that we actually got pretty far in regards to what we accomplished this week. I feel we are almost done with the screen play we just need to work on the story boards now and collect the props that we are going to use for most of the scenes which should be done sometime next week. I am working with Ramon, Leslie, John Paul, Julia, and Carlos. We are working on a mockumentary about young children preparing to go to college.

What Does Music Mean To You?

Music is the emotional support you receive when you are alone, or simply want to be, or find yourself alone. The feeling of being connected to someone who understands what you are going through emotionally, yet knowing that the person is not really there allows me to connect on an emotional level with the lyrics, the artist vocals, and the beat of the song. My favorite artist is hands down, Lana Del Rey. Her voice is amazing. The beautiful range of her vocals make her music glorious, grand, and create a much more beautiful tone to all of her songs than many other artists. At times I feel like her voice strikes through my soul, and it feels like her voice beats through my body the way my heart pumps blood. My three favorite songs by Lana are Gods and Monsters, Young and Beautiful, and Pretty When I Cry. I have never felt such a personal connection to a person that I do not know, but I have developed a huge devotion to Lana Del Rey that I feed every day by listening to her music. Her music eases me emotionally. It does not make me feel supported, instead, it eases me by giving me the feeling that there is someone who understands what I feel, especially because the lyrics of her songs carry such a sad undertone. In different situations, I can relate to her lyrics.

Problems and Struggles

I think that the most common struggle high school students face is the one with themselves. They aren't happy with their appearance, their physical abilities, their performance in class, and many other things. If these problems get out of hand, like i have seen before, the effects can be devastating. The deterioration of a healthy state of mind can push people to do things or act in ways they would never imagine. Self control is something that the person may no longer be able to reach and it is imperative that their peers and mentors be able to detect that deterioration before it leads them to hurt themselves or others. There was recently an incident on a school campus where one of the staff members father had committed suicide due to depression. The teacher who resumed going to work would continuously tell her students the importance of detecting depression before it was too late to do anything about it. One day when her students returned to class after break, they found the teacher dead. She had hung herself. This is a very real scenario that many people are susceptible to, including students. This situation highlights the importance of giving everyone support, and treating everyone with kindness, respect, and the awareness and ability to detect someone undergoing a problem with themselves or something in their environment.

The Most Interesting Person I Know

I think that there are many different types of interesting people in the world. Many of those people can be found in different places, from high up, to very low in regards to social standards. However, I believe that the person that you will find most interesting every time you think of anything is the person whom you love. The things they say are like magnets and you're automatically attracted to them. Drinking in their words like an elixir that keeps your mind soaring and your heart pumping. You are able to take in the details of their eyes; you count their lashes and notice the way their eyes crinkle when they smile. The way they breath and their chest rolls up and down with every breathe they take like an ocean in constant motion; full of life powerful. Their stories capture my attention. Like the reason why their lower ribs sticks out because it was dislocated in a fight. Or the reason why they have a  scar on their wrist from the time they put the handcuffs on too tightly. I find them interesting because of a profound desire to know more, to have their soul intertwined with my own, deep inside my body. I believe everyone is interesting and everyone has a story, but the attraction and interest has to be created to find it.
